Welcome to my site on which I hope you will find information and inspiration to pursue your own Pilates journey. I have been teaching for over twenty years having discovered Pilates in my late 20s. I suppose you can say I had a ‘eureka’ moment during a class and realised that I felt so WELL during my weekly practice and I felt so ABLE, both physically and mentally afterwards, that I wanted to change my career and make Pilates an integral part of my life.
And that is what I did. I am fully certified by the Pilates Foundation UK in both Pilates matwork and on the studio apparatus and continue to gain a deeper understanding of the work every year that I continue with the repertoire. It is interesting and rewarding and I have been very lucky to find lovely people who want to explore and practice the technique with me.
Until a few years ago, I taught private classes at my home studio and matwork groups in west London. However, I now live in Wiltshire where I continue my work and commitment to this wonderful and fulfilling movement practice.
My approach is based on a deep understanding of the principles of Pilates. I specifically tailor each class to the needs of the individual and, in a group situation, I pace the lesson so that each individual feels that they are challenged but safe within the repertoire. It’s important to realise that each one of us is different: our needs, our goals, our current health. On top of that, each class may well require a different approach in light of an individual’s current energy levels or state of mind. That’s why there is no one fixed approach to suit all.
It’s about partnership. I work with you to achieve your aims. Whether you want to relieve back pain, strengthen core muscles or improve balance, posture or flexibility, I put together a program specifically for you. I aim to teach well structured lessons which vary from class to class keeping it interesting, and I always take into account any injuries or illness that a client may have, changing the flow accordingly.
